From textile waste to premium underwear

Bamboo Basics introduces the world's first T-shirts and underwear made from yarn from post-consumer waste and bamboo. Post-consumer textile waste is discarded textiles from consumers. In this way, the brand contributes to reducing the textile waste mountain and upcycling discarded clothing. These are the first steps towards circularity, with the ultisize goal of developing products that are infinitely recyclable and completely circular.

About the Circular Made Fiber

The Circular Made Fiber is made from post-consumer textile waste. The textile waste is processed and combined with wood from responsibly managed forests. By using fewer new raw sizerials we reduce the ecological impact. What remains of one process becomes input for the other, so that it continues to circulate. Advantages of the Circular Made fiber Sustainably managed forests The fibers consist of a mix of wood pulp and cotton pulp. Because both raw sizerials come from plant sources, the resulting fibers are 100% biobased. 95% less water consumption The production process of the Circular Made fiber uses 95% less water than for producing conventional cotton. It has high resource efficiency and low environmental impact. Compostable and biodegradable The Circular Made fiber is compostable and biodegradable. Properties of the Circular Made fiber Nice for the skin The Circular Made fiber provides an extra soft fabric that, like bamboo, is also suitable for sensitive skin. Moisture regulation The Circular Made fiber absorbs moisture more efficiently than cotton and supports the body's natural thermal regulation. Long lasting quality The Circular Made fiber is very strong, durable and delivers long-lasting quality.

Södra – Circular Made Fiber

Some time ago, the Swedish forestry company Södra found the unique solution to recycle mixed fiber textile waste on a large scale. Bamboo Basics is one of the first to work with this new fiber and is now launching the first T-shirts and underwear made from clothing waste, mixed with the fine properties of bamboo. Södra is not only the first to recycle mixed fibers with a high synthetic content, but is also one of the few to produce pulp that can be turned into viscose fibers and new textiles. The pulp produced in the process consists of cellulose that comes from two sources: recycled textiles and wood from Södra's responsibly managed forests. The pulp is equivalent to dissolving pulp for the production of viscose or lyocell in terms of purity, quality and properties. A fiber is then made from this pulp. This Circular Made fiber mixes Bamboo Basics with bamboo fiber, sourced from responsibly managed plantations. This creates a comfortable end product with a smaller ecological footprint.

This product is partly made from post-consumer textile waste. A fiber made from consumer textile waste that together with our Tanboocel bamboo fiber forms a yarn. This combination creates a wonderfully comfortable, even more durable and softer product! Bamboo Basics strives for a circular future, in which textile waste no longer exists. In collaboration with Circular Made, we use that waste as raw sizerial, ultisizely helping to reduce textile waste mountains.
