Keuringsdienst van Waarde

Inspection Service of Value

Following the broadcast of the Keuringsdienst van Waarde, we understand that questions have arisen about the use of bamboo in clothing. Therefore, we would like to provide more clarity about the production process that Bamboo Basics uses. This differs in an important aspect from the process shown in the broadcast.

Bamboo Basics does not work with the manufacturer mentioned in the program, ThangShan Sanyou Chemical Fiber Co., Ltd. We work with Hebei Jigao Ltd. in China, a manufacturer that uses Tanboocel™ during production. This is a closed-loop system where the used chemicals do not enter the environment but are captured and recycled. This ensures that the chemicals needed for the viscose process cannot have a negative impact on the environment.

Bamboo Basics aims to produce its products in a sustainable and socially responsible manner, offering a better alternative, especially compared to cotton. We focus on clean and efficient use of land and minimizing water use and CO2 emissions. In addition to the fact that bamboo, unlike cotton, does not require insecticides and pesticides to grow, bamboo saves compared to cotton:

🦶🏼 63% on CO2 footprint
💧 64% on water use
🌱 30% on land use
Recently, in collaboration with Ecochain Mobius, we have achieved the above results. The results are published in our LCA report, which can be found on our website.

These numbers reinforce our vision: accelerating the transition to a fair and non-polluting fashion industry. You can also read everything we do for this on our website.

If you have any further questions, we would love to hear from you!
